Delicate Images Spring from Discarded Materials
“Being green is something my parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were doing long before it was trendy and associated with fancy green lingo like staycationing,” says mixed media artist Dolan Geiman. His parents taught him how to cut up old clothes to make rugs, how to salvage the hardware from rotting doors and floorboards, and how to make toys out of tin and string. “I was taught at an early age that everything around me could have multiple purposes.” It is a lesson that has served Geiman well in his mission to turn ordinary, discarded objects into extraordinary artwork.
