Beauty in Imperfection: Sea-Weathered Wood Furniture
I have been fascinated by bricole, the partially submerged oak poles that help guide boats through the Laguna of Venice and serve as moorings. These pilings get replaced periodically, creating lots of leftover wood. The difficulty has always been to use them in a creative way that retains their charm and highlights their gorgeous imperfections. Alcarol has mastered the art, and, with the help of a non-toxic resin, has done so in a stylish and sustainable way. The end product is absolutely beautiful and full of character. Tradition and modernity merge.
