Beautiful in Bamboo: Weaving a New Concept in Cars

Like it or not, cars are here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future. So it’s good to see designers thinking outside of the box—in this case, way outside of the box. The sinewy shell of Albrecht Birkner and Kenneth Cobonpue’s Phoenix concept car was woven out of bamboo in just ten days. “Lightweight, electric-powered, biodegradable, and handcrafted,” this car sleekly points the way to a new way of thinking about the automobile. It looks sexy to boot!
